Aristoteles is Eratosthenian in age. Its wall is slightly distorted toward a rounded hexagon, the inner walls are wide and finely terraced, and it has an unusually high density of rockfalls for a lunar crater. The ejecta blanket shows a radial pattern of hillocks, and the smaller crater Mitchell is attached to the eastern rim.
